How often do campers swim?Swimming is an essential part of the camp experience at JCC Abrams Camps! Campers swim twice a day, with: 🏊 Instructional Swim – A structured lesson led by our swim instructors to build confidence and improve skills. 🌊 Free Swim – A fun, supervised swim session where campers can cool off and enjoy the water with friends. Our swim program is designed to help campers progress at their own pace while having fun!
-
What is the instructional swim program like? Our instructional swim program follows a structured approach to help campers become stronger, more confident swimmers. 👨🏫 Lessons are led by swim instructors who tailor lessons to each camper’s ability. 🌊 Campers are grouped by skill level to ensure they receive the right level of support and challenge. 🏆 Focus on water safety, technique, and skill-building in a positive, encouraging environment. Whether a camper is just starting or already a strong swimmer, our program helps them improve their skills and feel comfortable in the water!
-
How do you ensure water safety?Camper safety is our #1 priority, especially around water. Our comprehensive safety measures include: 👀 Certified lifeguards on duty at all times – Our highly trained lifeguards are constantly monitoring the pool. ✅ Swim evaluations at the start of camp – Campers are assessed on the first day to determine their swim level. 🏊 Swim bands for safety – Campers wear color-coded swim bands based on their skill level, ensuring they stay in the appropriate swim areas. 📢 Strict supervision ratios – Our staff-to-camper ratios in the pool exceed safety standards. 🛟 Emergency readiness training – Lifeguards are trained in first aid, CPR, and water rescue techniques. We make sure all campers feel safe, comfortable, and confident in the water while having an amazing time!

How do you handle rainy days?At JCC Abrams Camps, we embrace “liquid sunshine”—a little rain won’t stop the fun! If it’s light rain, campers continue outdoor activities as usual while staying safe and comfortable. If the weather becomes more severe, we shift to a rainy-day schedule with: ☔ Creative arts, STEM, and hands-on projects ☔ Indoor-style games, group activities, and team-building challenges under covered areas ☔ Camp-wide entertainment, special programs, and surprises! No matter the weather, we make sure campers stay active, engaged, and having fun!

Do campers have access to extra water throughout the day?Yes! Campers are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle, and we have multiple cold water hydration stations around camp for quick refills. Our staff reminds campers to drink frequently to stay hydrated.
